EU Thematic Stategy for Pesticides: Publication of Legislation

The EU Thematic Strategy for Pesticides includes a Regulation (to replace the pesticide authorisation Directive 91/414/EEC) and a new Sustainable Use Directive which have now been adopted and published.
The Regulation : (EC) 1107/2009 concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market and repealing Council Directives 79/117/EEC and 91/414/EEC, and the Directive : 2009/128/EC establishing a framework for Community action to achieve the sustainable use of pesticides, were published by the Commission on 24 November 2009 . The Regulation will apply about 18 months after this date, in June 2011. The Directive will be implemented into UK legislation within two years of publication.
